Positano

is the first jewel that we find on this road, very characteristic with its rock houses very similar to a living nativity the many shops along the road that lead to the beach. From the beginning of the 900s it has been elected the preferred abode for Germans, English and Americans and from that moment began its new beginning, after a long period of decay. A new beginning that continues unto the present day, tied to tourism and fashion, the fantasy and habits of commerce has made the Positano Fashion famous all over the world, recognizable by its brilliant colours and the use of poor material the so called rags of Positano. Positano has its origins in antique Rome, in fact, it is said that when the Emperor Tiberius moved to Capri, afraid for his life, he refused to eat the bread made by the islanders and ordered it from Positano, from the mill that is still standing today and up until only a few years ago was in working order, that is to be found in Piazza dei mulini. Also to be visited are the three towers built to defend the attack from the Turkish Marines, the first is that of the Sponda, the second is that of the Trasita (so called because there were always numerous birds) and the third is that of the Fornillo a short distance from the beach.
